Dr. David Low, associate professor in the Department of Literacy, Early, Bilingual and Special Education, was the keynote speaker for the National Council of Teachers of English Assembly for Research [NCTEAR] Conference. His speech called for literacy researchers to focus on how young people employ critical literacy in new and nuanced ways. The keynote address took place on March 1 in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Monique Bell, professor, Department of Marketing and Logistics, was a featured speaker at the 2025 Vancouver International Wine Festival on Feb. 24.
Dr. Lisa Bryant, Chair, Department of Political Science, will be the keynote speaker at the Chiesman Center for Democracy Conference on Thursday, March 27 at the University of South Dakota.
Dr. Ahran Koo, associate professor of Art Education, received the National Art Education Association's (NAEA) 2025 Art, Media, and Technology Interest Group Outstanding Research Award. This prestigious recognition, achieved through a comprehensive evaluation process involving peer reviews, honors the outstanding contributions to both research and teaching by an exemplary art educator in the nation. The award will be presented at the NAEA annual conference on March 20 and 21.
Also, Koo has recently co-authored two book chapters, titled "Leveraging the Power of the Arts for Students’ Mental Health" (2025), and "Korean Immigrant Motherscholars' Tales: Practice of Care at Home, School, and Community" (2025).
Brynn Saito, associate professor, Department of English, will hold a workshop entitled "Ancestral Poetics asks..." at the 9th annual Sierra Poetry Festival on Saturday, April 12.
