As we move along in the spring semester, Zoom continues to be an essential resource, vital to the success of our virtual learning and remote work environments. For this reason, Technology Services will continue to provide timely information regarding Zoom updates and enhancements to assist both hosts and participants in successfully managing Zoom.
Zoom is continually enhancing features to provide a platform that is accessible and available to all of the diverse communities served at Fresno State. We have compiled a list of helpful resources below.
Please take a moment to review this important information and take special note of the new Live Captioning feature.
Live Transcription Info:
Technology Services is pleased to announce that all meetings and webinars will now include automatic closed captioning, or "Live Transcription."
Live Transcription provides a real-time transcription service which enables speech-to-text transcription in Zoom meetings and webinars. The feature is enabled by the host of the meeting or webinar once it begins. Please be aware of the following facts around the use of the Live Transcription feature:
- The Live Transcription feature is not available for HIPAA accounts, but may be in the near future.
- Participants will not see the Live Transcript option unless the host enables it.
- Live Transcriptions are not available in breakout rooms or Zoom for Linux.
- Live Transcription does not create subtitles in the Zoom recording. Subtitles will only appear during the live meeting. Hosts who want subtitles to appear in the Zoom recording need to additionally turn on "Zoom Audio Transcription."
To see more details on the Live Transcription features, please visit the Zoom support page here.
