The Google NewsLab Digital Storytelling Tools Workshop is designed for participants with little to no experience in online data management or web mapping, who are interested in free and easy-to-use tools for presentations, storytelling and reporting.
An introductory presentation on Monday, March 13 will get you up to speed on the types of things that can be done with Google Drive's toolset, as well as some basic concepts for wise data management. On Tuesday, March 14, you will follow an interactive exercise that will first introduce you to Google Earth Pro and several of its simple mapping options. You will then learn how to make your own online maps with interactive visualization graphics.
Registration is free and limited to 25 participants in each session, so please register early.
Requirements: Please bring a laptop computer to the workshop. You should also have an active Google account with access to Google Drive.

In-depth workshop with Advanced Search to find information that could be used in a story or presentation and apply it to make a map. Learn how to make a simple embeddable map and find a compatible interactive visual graphic to embed within a story. Further explore Google Trends.
