Adaptive Leadership & Change

Join Dr. Avery Culbertson, Assistant Professor in Agricultural Leadership, to discuss how new directions in leadership theory connect to listening, empathy and emotional intelligence within the context of change. This focus is adaptive leadership, and it centers on leaders encouraging people to adapt and deal with issues, challenges and change. An adaptive leader equips others to face difficult challenges, providing them with the space or opportunity they need to learn new ways of dealing with changes in assumptions, perceptions, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors they are likely to encounter in addressing problems.

CSUEU and APC Collective Bargaining Agreement Overview & Updates

This session is designed for MPP/managers and Department Chairs. The CSU recently reached agreements on successor collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) with CSUEU (Units 2, 5, 7, 9) and APC (Unit 4). This will provide an overview of key provisions in the agreements to help managers and department chairs better understand how to navigate the CBAs.

Lessons from the Lounge - GE Information Meeting

Beginning in Fall 2018, all faculty who teach GE courses will be required to indicate a minimum of one assignment that directly aligns with and measures one of the GE student learning outcomes for the appropriate Area (GE A1, A2, B4, C2, etc.). This workshop will give background on the GE ePortfolio requirement for all incoming students as of Fall 2018 which led to the new requirement for syllabi. This workshop will also give specific examples of the minor changes necessary to faculty syllabi to fulfill this requirement. APM 215, a new section at the end of the existing section on GE, describes all aspects of the new GE ePortfolio requirement.

The purpose of this seminar is to analyze how power operates through policies, systems, and structures; and develop a historical context for understanding oppression, privilege, power, resistance, and social change. Participants will also reflect on one’s own multiple identities within history and society and examine how power and privilege can hinder community building in the workplace.
