Ignacio Hernández, associate professor and director of the doctoral program in Educational Leadership, was selected as a fellow for the New Leadership Academy at the University of Utah. The New Leadership Academy Fellows Program (NLA) is a partnership between the University of Utah and the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education.
The NLA curriculum and learning objectives draw upon traditional leadership theory and contemporary scholarship that investigate the roles of leaders under highly contested and complex conditions. Fellows will participate in tailored programs and activities, which include online learning modules and discussions, an interactive case study simulation, written reflections, and coaching sessions throughout the fellowship.
Dr. Rashanda Booker, university diversity officer, has been named one of 29 distinguished senior-level higher education professionals to participate in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities 2023 Millennium Leadership Initiative.
Daniel Cunningham, lecturer, Mathematics Department, published his latest book "Mathematical Logic: An Introduction in De Gruyter." The textbook uses mathematical tools to investigate mathematics itself. In particular, the concepts of proof and truth are examined. The book presents the fundamental topics in mathematical logic and presents clear and complete proofs throughout the text. Such proofs are used to develop the language of propositional logic and the language of first-order logic, including the notion of a formal deduction. The text also covers Tarski’s definition of truth and the computability concept. It also provides coherent proofs of Godel’s completeness and incompleteness theorems.
