The Facilities Management team is working on several projects over the summer months. A brief summary of each project is outlined below.
Classroom Modernization Project
Renovations to several centrally allocated classrooms will start this summer and will be completed over the next two years. Phase 1 of the project began in May and includes new finishes (paint, floor, and ceiling), new instructional technology, and new seating. Six (6) classrooms are included in this first phase (AG 109, S2 109, SA 26, IT 288, PHS 102, SS 210) and all rooms other than AG 109 will be ready for the fall 2018 semester. AG 109 will be completed by the end of the fall 2018 semester, due to more extensive facility renovations. McL 161 will be started in Spring 2019. The total project cost of Phase 1 is approximately $4,450,000 and funding is from campus reserves and Academic Affairs. Please note: In an effort to provide continued support for instruction during the classroom modernization project, NG 118 will be used temporarily as instructional space during the 2018-19 academic year. This room will only be available on Saturdays and Sundays for event reservations once instruction starts each semester.
Sewer and Storm Drain Improvements: (map)
Throughout the summer months, sewer and storm drain pipelines will be replaced across campus. This critical infrastructure support has an anticipated completion date of September 2018.The estimated total project cost is $600,000 and funding is from the CSU Capital Outlay Program. New Equestrian Locker Room
A new locker room for our equestrian student athletes will be built within the footprint of the existing Student Horse Center. The first phase of the project (utility infrastructure installation) will begin this summer and construction of the new locker room facility should be completed by March 2019. The estimated total project cost is $1,800,000 and is being funded by campus reserves and systemwide infrastructure funds. Bulldog Stadium East Berm Repair
This project addresses the deteriorating concrete caused by water intrusion at sections 29 to 33. The project includes partially rebuilding two (2) stairs at sections 29 and 33 and re-caulking the entire area. The estimated total cost is approximately $400,000 and is being funded by the University’s Risk Pool. Ruiz Foods Executive Classrooms - Peters Business Building
This summer we will start underground site utilities work. The project scope includes approximately 5,400 square feet and is comprised of two (2) 50 seat state-of-the-art tiered classrooms. The project will provide an updated teaching environment for the Craig School of Business (CSB) undergraduate and MBA programs. The total project cost of $3,500,000 is being funded from donor and CSB funds. The anticipated completion date for the project is March 2019. Central Plant Replacement, Phase 1: Cooling Tower
A new cooling tower will be installed to replace the existing 44 year old cooling tower that cools the chilled water pipes for campus cooling. Work will begin in August 2018 and is anticipated to be completed by December 2018. The estimated cost for Phase 1 is $1,400,000 and is funded by the CSU Capital Outlay Program.
