During the month of June, the Central California Sports Science Institute hosted 80 high school students from Fresno Unified School District for its annual Sports Science Camp.
The weeklong camp provided FUSD students with an interest in the health pathway an opportunity to learn more about the different career options in kinesiology, including athletic training, physical education, sport psychology and exercise science.
Fresno State students majoring in kinesiology facilitated each of the workshops, through interactive activities and hands-on learning. Dr. Luke Pryor, assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology, led the camp. He said the results have been positive for participants, with 70 percent expressing interest in pursuing Fresno State for higher education. Of that number, 80 percent have more interest in majoring in kinesiology.
