Resilience Training & Assessment: Cultivating Grit & Growth Mindset (Two-Part Workshop)
Participants will leave with a definition of grit, growth mindset, and resilience and an understanding of how that can be measured, as well as with ideas for how to cultivate those skill sets on their campuses.

Part I: Understanding Grit, Growth Mindset, and Resilience Training & The Neuroscience Behind It
Part I of the workshop will focus on defining and differentiating what grit, growth mindset, and resilience means, provide an overview of the training and explain the neuroscience that supports its use and effectiveness.

Part II: Implementation & Assessment Of Resilience Training
Part II of this workshop will focus on ways to implement training on campus, highlighting key considerations for implementation and some of the limitations that exist. It will also focus on how to assess the training's effectiveness and whether or not grit, growth mindset, and resilience are increasing.
Activity Classes
Mindfulness
Tues. & Thurs., 12:10 - 12:25 p.m., ED 360
Mindfulness includes many different types of meditation, relaxation, and other ways to de-stress and enjoy the present moment. Sessions vary from mindfulness scripts read aloud, body scan narratives, and easy desk stretching. You do not need a change of clothes; we will be working the mind, not the body. Bringing a yoga mat is encouraged for comfortable seating, but is not required.
Aqua Bootcamp
Mon., 4 - 5 p.m., Aquatics Center
The "liquid gym" is the place to be! This moderate to high intensity class is designed to improve cardio conditioning, alternating with strength, balance and core training segments. This class will be held in the shallow pool.
Aqua Tabata
Wed., 4 - 5 p.m., Aquatics Center
Tabata utilizes short bursts of high intensity exercises with a rest period following. In the pool, the advantage of high intensity movements in a low impact environment can benefit people of all fitness levels and of all swimming levels. This class will be held in the shallow pool.
Water Aerobics
Tues. & Thurs., 4 - 5 p.m., Aquatics Center
Build muscle and reduce body fat in this fun, high energy, and low impact class! On Tuesday, this class will be held in the shallow pool. Starting Thursday, this class will be held in the deep pool, and a floatation belt will be provided.
Swim for Fitness
Thurs., 5 - 6 p.m., Aquatics Center
Improve your sprint and endurance levels with a progressive workout tailored to your skill level. All levels welcome. Swim for Fitness starts July 12th, and will be held in the deep pool, Monday through Thursday from 5 - 6 p.m.
