Learn how implicit bias manifests in our daily work, and how to work with students and student support staff in an inclusive way that addresses potential bias. This one-hour webinar includes 45 minutes of content and 15 minutes of discussion and Q & A.

This program is ideal for higher education professionals in the areas of Student Affairs and Academic Affairs, especially those who supervise students or staff.

OVERVIEW
In this webinar, attendees will dive into the mechanism of bias, why it exists, and ways to name and address implicit bias. The expert facilitator will review specific tools to help attendees challenge and check our own bias in such activities as recruiting and supervising staff and students.

INSTRUCTOR: Lynda Duran, Assistant Director of Student Development, University of Colorado Denver
In her current position, Lynda oversees staff and students in Student Advocacy and Leadership on her campus. She previously ran an academic support program with a staff of student peer advocates. She received her M.A. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Colorado Denver and her B.A. in psychology from Colorado College. Her interests lie in student leadership development, co-curricular student learning, and exploring critical systemic factors that promote or hinder student success in higher education. Lynda has presented at ACPA on peer mentoring, student employment and Latina Women in Higher Education.
