Lillie Stanley Parker, University Librarian at the Henry Madden Library from 1979 to 1988, passed away in Santa Ana on June 25, 2018. She was 90. Parker started working at the Library in 1951 in the Catalog Department when the University was still at its original location (where Fresno City College is now). She became Associate University Librarian in 1968 under the direction of Dr. Henry Miller Madden and succeeded him after his retirement.
After 37 years of service, Parker retired in 1988. She was very active professionally and civically, maintaining memberships in the California Library Association, California Historical Society, California Academy of Sciences, the Book Club of California, Cooper Ornithological Society, Audubon Society, Sierra Club and the Fresno City and County Historical Society.
Campus has suffered a true loss. Many at Fresno State fondly remember Lillie's contributions to the University. We will miss her!
