Barlow Der Mugrdechian, professor and Berberian Coordinator of Armenian Studies, published the article, "The Armenian National Folk Epic David of Sassoun," in the new anthology "Teaching World Epics," edited by Jo Ann Cavallo for the Modern Language Association of America. His research explores the Armenian national folk epic, which represents the Armenian people's longtime struggle for freedom from invasion and oppression.
Dr. Irán Barrera, chair and professor in the Department of Social Work Education, was named one of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities 35 higher education professionals to participate in the 2023 Emerging Leaders Program.
Dr. Sudarshan Kapoor, professor emeritus of social work and peace studies, was elected as an NASW Social Work Pioneer by the National Association of Social Workers Foundation. He will be recognized as a newly elected pioneer on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Cosmos Club, in Washington, DC.
Dr. Peter Robertson, director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, was selected for a pride exhibit at the Betty Rodriguez Branch of the Fresno County Library. The monthlong display, which ends June 30, highlights local LGBTQ+ advocates and activists.
