Get to know Jessica Medina, who has been on campus for nine years as staff, but also as a student assistant.
Some of you may know Jessica, but do you know that as far as food is concerned, she can't say "no" to a taco?
JESSICA MEDINA
1. How long have you been on campus?
I have been professional staff for nine years now, but including my student assistant time, I've been on campus for 14 years.
2. What is your position?
I am the coordinator of the Food Security Project, which includes the Student Cupboard, Catered Cupboard, and other initiatives to help our students who are experiencing food insecurity.
3. How many different areas have you worked on campus?
I have been in three different areas. I started as an orientation leader, worked as professional staff in Advising Services (same office), and then back to Dog Days. After that I worked briefly for the VP of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management before moving full-time into the Food Security Project.
4. Favorite thing about campus?
I love that everyone I work with feels like family! We have great collaborations across campus, and I love being able to walk through campus and see people I know and work with. Also, my husband and I met here working for Dog Days, had our wedding reception at the Smittcamp Alumni House, and now have two amazing boys...Fresno State is truly home to us.
5. Favorite food?
I can always go for some great tacos!
6. Favorite color?
Yellow
7. An interesting fact about yourself?
I helped start the women's golf team at my high school because we didn't have one...I didn't know how to play, and wasn't very good, but we had a great time learning and building a team!
8. Favorite quote?
"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." - Mother Teresa
