Dr. Daniel Bernard (Continuing and Global Education) was recognized in the Fresno Business Street Class of 2016 “40 Under 40” list. It recognizes outstanding business professionals in the private and public sectors of the Central Valley under the age of 40. Nearly half of the professionals on the list are Fresno State graduates who work in a variety of different organizations across the Central Valley.
Dr. Iran Barrera (Social Work Education) has been appointed the chair of the Cultural Competence Track for the Council on Social Work Education. The council is a national nonprofit association that represents more than 2,500 individual members, as well as graduate and undergraduate programs of professional social work education.

Dr. Wade Gilbert (Kinesiology) released his latest book, “Coaching Better Every Season: A Year-Round System for Athlete Development and Program Success” – a guide for future coaching professionals, which is available for purchase here.
Dr. Frank Lamas (VP, Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management), will join the new NASPA Advisory Services review team, which will provide external reviews, self-assessments and resources to enhance student affairs practice at universities throughout the nation. The team was created in response to a call from the Lamas when he was NASPA board chair, for a review process for divisions of student affairs and services.
Chayeng Xiong and CherTeng Yeng (both Title IV-E/Social Work) have been chosen to present at the National Hmong Development Conference in Milwaukee, Wis., in April.
Dr. Helen Miltiades (Social Work) and Dr. Greg Thatcher (Public Health) published their manuscript “Social Engagement During Game Play in Persons with Alzheimers” in Dementia: The Internal Journal of Social Research and Practice.
Dr. Miguel Perez (Public Health) was given the title of “Honorary Professor” by Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru, as a result of the Fulbright work he completed there.
Kudos to Estella Saldivar (Social Work) and her students in Social Work 20 for collecting food, blankets, warm clothing, hygiene items and money to donate to the homeless community.
