On Monday, Feb. 3, the official Fresno State Esports program will unveil its rosters for two varsity teams competing against other universities in the Mountain West Conference starting this semester.
A Launch Party will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Bulldog Zone in the lower level of the USU and will feature VR and console-based gaming stations. Remarks will be made by University leaders, the coaches and teams starting at 11 a.m.
Esports is a global phenomenon citing a growing viewership in the hundreds of millions each year. By taking this step to launch the varsity teams and provide intramural gaming programming out of the Student Recreation Center, Fresno State is taking a step toward the future.
The two varsity teams were formed through tryouts of current students this past fall and will be competing against other campuses who have already-established esports programs in League of Legends and Overwatch.
We welcome you to follow @FresnoStateES on social media to learn about our competition schedule and intramural gaming programming for students.
