The California Water Institute is hosting the Water Exchange Market Symposium from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Satellite Student Union.
This FREE event features leading industry representatives and includes presentations and panel discussions presented by growers, irrigation and water districts, regional water agencies, groundwater sustainability agencies, and various other stakeholder groups.
The goal of the symposium is geared to provide attendees with knowledge of how water markets work.
Topics include
• Whether water exchange markets can be implemented successfully
• What is necessary for success
• What is the first step in the implementation process
One of the main questions examined is should water property owners be allowed to transfer and exchange with other property owners surface water and groundwater entitlements assigned to their properties, and if so under what conditions and controls, if any?
