As we begin the spring semester, we wanted to provide updated information related to the campus COVID-19 protocols, Rapid Antigen (at-home test kits), supplies, and local information on where you can access COVID vaccines.
COVID-19 Protocols
On January 1, 2024, Labor Code section 6409.6 expired. This code required notification to all employees of COVID-19 cases on campus. Although the campus wide COVID-19 exposure notifications will no longer be distributed, we ask that employees continue to submit a COVID-19 report when they test positive or if they have a close contact exposure to someone with COVID-19 and/or have symptoms but have not yet tested positive. We will continue to monitor for outbreaks and notify anyone who is identified as a close contact.* For faculty, staff and student assistants, we will also continue to work with Human Resources in notifying them of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and determine who may be eligible for workers compensation.
On January 9, 2024, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) updated their guidance for COVID-isolation. Under the new guidance, there is a shortened isolation period for symptomatic people who test positive for COVID. People who test positive for COVID-19, but do not have any symptoms, will no longer need to isolate. In both situations, a facial mask must be worn on campus for 10 days after the initial symptoms or positive test. This information will continue to be shared with individuals when a COVID report is submitted.
*A close contact is defined as sharing the same indoor airspace (same room/open indoor area) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period (for example, three individual 5-minute exposures for a total of 15 minutes) during your infectious period.
COVID Rapid Antigen Test Kits
Students will be able to continue to obtain free kits from the Student Health and Counseling Center. For employees, per Cal-OSHA requirements, complimentary test kits will only be provided to those employees who had a close contact at work and to employees in an outbreak area. These will be provided at no cost by the Office of Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management.
Free COVID-19 test options are offered by the Fresno County Department of Public Health.
As a reminder, please stay home if you are sick or not feeling well. If you test positive, please fill out the online COVID-19 reporting form immediately. Students who are experiencing symptoms should contact the Student Health and Counseling Center at 559.278.2734 for further medical direction.
COVID-19 Vaccines
COVID-19 vaccines are available through your primary care physician and pharmacies. The Student Health and Counseling Center is currently working on securing COVID-19 vaccines for students.
Face masks ,Hand Sanitizer and Disinfectant Wipes
Other COVID-related supplies, including face masks, disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer will continue to be provided until our current inventory is depleted.
Kits with disinfectant spray, paper towels and gloves will continue to be available by submitting a request to Custodial Services. Hand sanitizer stations will continue to be maintained at the first floor entrance to most campus buildings.
