Dear faculty,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jim Schmidtke as the Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs, starting January 2024. 

Dr. Jim Schmidtke received his PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and joined the faculty at Fresno State in 2001. He has served as the interim Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs since September 2021. Prior to that he was a Professor of Management in the Craig School of Business and taught classes in conflict resolution and negotiation, human resource management, leadership and organizational behavior. He served as chair of his department for six years from 2015 to 2021. In addition, Dr. Schmidtke has offered his service on many college and university committees including chairing the University Budget
Committee. Dr. Schmidtke’s research focuses on sexual harassment, workplace discrimination, organizational deviance, diversity and virtual teams. He has published in a variety of high-ranking journals in human resources, management and psychology, and served as an expert witness in multiple court cases involving human resource-related issues.
