“Bookends,” an exhibition by Professor Doug Hansen, captures an art career that began 45 years ago when he was a student at Fresno State. In between then and now, Hansen also illustrated the pages of The Fresno Bee and several books.
The Department of Art and Design at Fresno State will present Hansen’s works in an exhibition that will run from Jan. 25 through Feb. 22.
Hansen will deliver an artist’s talk at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, in Fresno State’s Conley Art Lecture Hall (Conley Art 1010). The presentation will be followed by a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Phebe Conley Gallery. Both events are free and open to the public.
Hansen’s career as an illustrator began when he was a student in the Art Department at Fresno State in the early ’70s. His cartoons and comics for the then-Daily Collegian campus newspaper earned attention and recognition for Hansen and helped launch his career.
