We all play a role in fostering an inclusive work and learning environment of respect, kindness, collaboration and accountability where every member of the student body, faculty, staff and administration can thrive.
Our Principles of Community reflect our core values of Discovery, Diversity, and Distinction as well as our deep commitment to our mission "to boldly educate and empower students for success." These Principles were developed collaboratively by faculty, staff and administrators. They exemplify what we aspire to be.
At this time last year, President Joseph I. Castro presented the final draft of the Principles of Community to faculty and staff at the annual Spring Assembly.
“How we engage in our work to boldly educate and empower student success is powerfully shaped by you,” President Castro said during his speech. “Strong, collaborative working relationships are vital to our individual and collective success.”
The goal is to build these principles, or guidelines, into the day-to-day practices at Fresno State including at faculty and staff orientations, workshops, lectures, on-campus celebrations and recruiting.
