What began as a "bold idea" in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State's newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Goes Above & Beyond
Kalen DeBoer, Athletics
Kalen came into this year as head coach. The week before he could see his team for the first time ever, the pandemic hit, and everything shut down. He did not get to see his team in person until Oct. 3. This was at least, and I mean at least, two months after every other football team in the USA. Without any kickers, he almost beat one of the best teams in the conference! He has done this all without complaining or finger pointing. He has done it with his head up and being a leader of men.
Tiffany Burmeister, Warehouse/Shipping and Receiving
I just wanted to acknowledge Tiffany as someone who goes above and beyond to keep things moving forward! As I have been able to work from home a good portion of this time, she has readily stepped up and allowed office supply deliveries, provided supplies for COVID mitigation and reached out regarding critical shipments for our animal units on campus. From what I've witnessed, she's in at 100% all the time. I appreciate her efforts and wanted to share the great work that she does!
Tubbs William, Technology Services
Such a wonderful guy to work with. Always willing to help and asks how people are doing all the time. Keep up the good work.
Juan Torres, Technology Services
Juan is so helpful every time I talk to him; he provides wonderful service to staff, helps educate and teach us how to use the technology we have so that we can acclimate to the telecommute schedule. Thank you!

Karla Rodela, University Advancement
Karla literally works above and beyond, especially during this stay at home time. She arrives early and is always busy researching, asking questions and improving her work. Most importantly, she’s a person to admire when it comes to work ethic.
Clare Flore-Coleman, Athletics
We appreciate you helping with all the different tasks during these times!
Angelica Miramontes, Criminology
Angie went above and beyond when turning something in. She gave me all the applicable information without me having to ask. I really appreciate that she is proactive in anticipating what questions I might have for her. Her helpfulness is not unnoticed!
Frank Romo, Facilities Management
I would like to say thank you to Frank for going above and beyond in everything he does. He is always working and making sure that everything he is in charge of is done to perfection. Obviously, he cares about what he does, and we can see the dedication he puts into his work. Frank is always cordial, respectful and knows everybody by name. It is refreshing to see someone who works so hard and yet, he always has time to smile and make our workday more pleasant. Thank you, Frank! We all appreciate you and all what you do for us.

You also support your students above and beyond everyone's expectations. You inspire many students, particularly women, who seek to become the next generation of information systems professionals!

Thank you Denise for the invaluable support you provide all of us at the Craig School of Business and its related centers. We can always count on you to keep us motivated and focused on our mission. You make the impossible possible with your MAGIC!
Doug Carey, OSP, Division of Research and Graduate Studies
Doug has worked to facilitate the successful completion of a contract award with California State Parks. He has been patient and continues to assist with answering questions and ensuring the project budget and process is well organized. He is responsive to questions and ideas. The project would not have been funded without his guidance.
Cynthia Hanks, Accounting Services
As this holiday season makes us reflect on the unprecedented times that we are living, it is even more meaningful for me to give a High Five to Cynthia. Cynthia has guided, supported and motivated her team under the circumstances that we were, and continue to be, facing during this uncharted time. She has kept an open communication with us, and we feel that we can always count on her for everything we need. She makes us feel that we are never alone and we, as a team, not only can we continue to perform in the efficient way that she leads us to, but also that we can face any challenges ahead. Cynthia has mastered the balance of being someone who everybody likes and treasures at the personal level and a manager who inspires respect and leadership. I want to thank her for everything she does for us and to recognize how privileged we are to have her as our manager.
Geoff King, Technology Services
Took time out of his day and helped me with something that I was not very knowledgeable with. Explained everything clearly and extend his help after he told me the next steps in the process.
Sierra Anderson, College of Social Sciences
Thank you Sierra for making a task that was more time consuming than normal not so painful. I appreciate you working with me to get it completed in such a professional patient manner. Most of all for offering to help me ask questions to figure out some of the issues. You are amazing at your job!

Katie created a new process for the additional employment agreement paperwork. It is working so much better. She was thoughtful in creating the process, including everyone who needed to be informed and participate in the completing the paperwork.
