As Ramadan begins later this month, support and well wishes are extended to Muslim faculty, staff, and students observing this sacred month of fasting, reflection and community.
Ramadan is a time of spiritual renewal, self-discipline and compassion for those in need. It is marked by daily fasting from dawn to sunset and culminates in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a joyful day that begins with communal prayers and brings families and friends together to share meals and exchange gifts.
The campus community is invited to take part in several opportunities to learn, connect and show support:
- Campus Iftar Dinner: Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a special iftar dinner on Thursday, Feb. 26, gathering to break fast together in a spirit of unity and reflection. Registration is required by Friday, Feb. 13, and seating is limited.
- Ramadan Exhibit: The Library’s Ramadan exhibit highlights the cultural and spiritual significance of the month and offers insight into traditions and values observed by Muslim communities. The exhibit runs from March 2 to March 24 on the Library’s second floor north concourse.
- Islamophobia Awareness Resource Collection: The university’s Islamophobia Awareness resource collection remains available for those interested in deepening their understanding and promoting inclusivity and respectful dialogue on campus.
The Muslim Student Association, President’s Muslim Leadership Council and the Fresno State Library are recognized for their efforts in organizing these initiatives.
Learning about one another’s traditions and experiences strengthens the campus community and reinforces a shared commitment to respect and belonging.
Ramadan Mubarak to all who observe. May this season bring peace, reflection and renewed connection.
