Larry Salinas (Governmental Relations) was appointed to the Task Force on Higher Education Government Relations. The task force helps coordinate the Higher Education Government Relations Conference, which is designed to help higher education government relations professionals understand the legislative process and how to best advance public higher education.
Dr. Frank Lamas (Student Affairs and Enrollment Management) was selected as the recipient of the 2018 Fred Turner Award for Outstanding Service to NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. The award honors a member of NASPA who has served in leadership roles at the state, regional, national, or international levels. The Fred Turner Award is NASPA’s equivalent of a lifetime achievement award; each recipient has brought honor and dignity to the student affairs profession, and to NASPA as an association, for a sustained period of time. Dr. Joseph Castro was named 2018 “Linked Learning Educator Champion” by the The Linked Learning Alliance.
The Linked Learning Champion awards recognize individuals or organizations that have demonstrated vision and concrete ways to make their vision a reality in improving education and workforce preparation for high school students.
Dr. Castro is being recognized for championing an agreement with the Wonderful Agriculture Career Prep (Ag Prep) regional collaborative to provide guaranteed Fresno State admission to Ag Prep graduates who meet the requirements.
This groundbreaking memorandum of understanding has created a seamless pipeline to Fresno State for qualifying Ag Prep graduates.
The Linked Learning Alliance integrates rigorous academics with technical training and work-based learning. Organized around industry-sector themes, Linked Learning pathways prepare high school students for college and careers.
The Linked Learning champions will be honored February 12-14 at the fourth annual Linked Learning Convention in Anaheim.
