Dr. Kerry Magro, award-winning professional and anti-bullying speaker, best-selling author, and autism consultant on the Emmy-award winning show, "Love on the Spectrum," will be on campus to give a presentation to faculty and staff.
Magro knew early on that he wanted to make a difference in others' lives. He was diagnosed at age 4 with Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), a form of autism. Growing up, Magro's future was very uncertain.
After countless hours of therapy and the support of a loving family, Magro conquered many of his challenges. Now, as an adult, Magro is a professional speaker, best-selling author, movie consultant, and nonprofit founder who travels the country sharing his story and encouraging people to define their lives and their dreams in the best way they can.

“Teaching the Way Our Students Learn: Curriculum Strategies and Inclusion Practices”
The world can look much different for students beyond the K–12 IEP world. We’ll cover disclosure (when/how/why), self-advocacy skill-building, Universal Design for Learning that scales across courses, and concrete strategies for kinesthetic, auditory and visual learners. We’ll also outline the role of allies (faculty, peers, advisors) in reducing stigma and increasing belonging. He will reference his book "Autistics on Autism," which features case studies of several autistic adults who are navigating a post secondary program.
