The Fresno State United Nations Global Compact Steering committee, with support from the Office of the Provost, is pleased to share the two opportunities below for faculty in spring 2023:
Sustainable Projects and Research Collaborations (SPARC)
The Division of Research and Graduate Studies in collaboration with Fresno State's United Nations Global Compact Committee presents SPARC. It is focused on igniting (or sparking) research collaborations across campus and is open to all faculty. Join us in igniting social, economic and environmental justice research connections from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, March 17. A light lunch will be provided.
Please consider participating in the lightning rounds as presenters or as attendees. The registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 24. This is a great opportunity to expand your research collaborations.
The Curriculum Enhancement Initiative
The Curriculum Enhancement Initiative is designed to support the enhancement of a current course to support UN sustainability goals (social, economic, or environmental). It is open to tenured and tenure-track faculty and includes a stipend. Applications are due Tuesday, Feb. 28.
About the Fresno State United Nations Global Compact
Fresno State is the first university within both the California State University and the University of California systems selected for membership in the United Nations Global Compact. In our initial Communication of Engagement report submitted in November 2020, we illustrated how we integrate the Ten Principles and 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into our academic curriculum, our research and scholarship and our work beyond academics through our centers, institutes, campuswide initiatives and campus-sponsored community efforts.
We are committed to building a stronger infrastructure across campus to support our Global Compact work, refining and expanding our curriculum as it relates to the Ten Principles and 17 SDGs, creating more opportunities for meaningful dialogue and action across campus, and developing opportunities to partner with local, regional, and global organizations to encourage others to engage in this important work.
If you have any questions, reach out to any of the Steering Committee members.
