Registration is open for the next President's Cultural Competency Certificate Program seminar: Power, Privilege and Oppression. Morning refreshments and lunch are provided. There is no cost for Fresno State staff, faculty and administrators.
Date: Friday, Feb. 15
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Vintage Room
Presented by Dr. Francine L. Oputa, this seminar looks at how power operates through policies, systems, and structures. The seminar also provides a historical context for understanding oppression, privilege, power, resistance, and social change. In addition, participants will reflect on personal multiple identities and examine how power and privilege can hinder community building in the workplace.
The President’s Cultural Competency Certificate Program provides participants with a greater understanding of how we can — and why we should — work together to continue building a strong and inclusive Fresno State community.
Certificates are awarded to those who complete all the required and elective seminars as well as a reflection component. Non-certificate seekers are welcome to attend all seminars.
