Baron’s main expertise is the behavior of toxic trace elements, such as chromium and arsenic, in natural and contaminated subsurface environments. He also has a long-standing interest in geoscience education and outreach programs to community colleges and K-12 schools. For this work, Baron received the 2018 Distinguished Educator Award of the Pacific Section of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
