Barlow Der Mugrdechian (Armenian Studies) presided over the 44th annual meeting of the Society for Armenian Studies (SAS), held in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, November 18. Der Mugrdechian has been President of the SAS for the past three years. The SAS is the international professional organization of scholars and teachers in the field of Armenian Studies. Later that same day, the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United States, Grigor Hovhannissian hosted a reception for SAS members at the Embassy. He presented SAS President Der Mugrdechian with a beautifully illustrated book on the artist Jean Kazandjian.
