Join the Office of the President, Fresno State Alegría Mental Health Task Force, the Department of Social Work Education and Social Work Student Association for a "joyful" campus event. "Bulldogs Joyful Together" is an opportunity for students, staff and faculty to interact and come together in celebration of our return to campus, after nearly a year and half of working from home and distance learning.
Date: Wednesday, Sept. 8
Time: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Location: Walkway between Henry Madden Library, University Center and the University Student Union
The Alegría Mental Health Task Force will provide resources on mental health services, and a free scoop of ice cream starting at 11 a.m. as part of its Flavor of the Month series, which is open to students, staff and faculty to encourage self-care to the campus community. The Task Force, which launched last spring, focuses on the concept of joy and its relationship to community and self.
For the social work students and faculty involved, the idea of coming together joyfully is intertwined with resilience and belonging, both assets that strongly encompass the social work profession.
“The event highlights the resilience of Fresno State students, especially in the face of adversity we all experienced through this pandemic. We recognize that engaging in self-care activities that uplift us is the best way to take care of our own mental health. This event will showcase the vibrance of our Fresno State community coming together,” said Dr. Marcus Crawford, assistant professor in the Department of Social Work Education.
The event will feature musical entertainment. Free T-shirts, pizza and giveaways will be available for up to 300 participants. Dutch Bros. will also be on site. Both Victor E. Bulldog and Timeout will also be there to meet participants.
