With school starting and the estimated temperature for the first week to be in the high 90s, remember to remind students that hydration is key to survive and thrive during the first few weeks of school.
Thankfully, Fresno State has found a way to keep students hydrated as well as help decrease the use of plastic water bottles. This has been possible through the instillation of water bottle refiling stations, which provide COLD water throughout campus.
In 2010 the first water filtration station was installed on campus in the USU. The new water filtration systems were a way to encourage students to bring their own water bottles and cut down on the overall use of plastic bottles on campus. Now, 8 years later, there are 21 water bottle fill-up stations.
The water bottle refilling stations are built for water bottles of all sizes, making them easy to use with any bottle you already own. These water stations also have a running tally of how much disposable plastic bottle waste has been eliminated, so you can see how many bottles you saved by reusing your own, while helping with the sustainability of our planet. Another amazing feature of the water fill-up stations is that they are completely free!
So remind students as they head back to class to bring their own water bottles to use the water bottle refilling stations!
