Goes Above & Beyond
Svetlana Korol, Admissions and Recruitment
Lana works behind the scenes and assists in cleaning many processes. I appreciate all the hard work and dedication she provides to our office. Lana has many years of knowledge and is always willing to show others to allow them to grow professionally. Know you are appreciated for all you do.
Stephanie Covacevich, College of Science and Mathematics, Advising and Resources Center
During a summer of unprecedented change and decreased staffing levels, Stephanie managed to convert an intensive, in-person training program for 60 Peer Mentors into a condensed virtual event without losing the quality and efficacy we have come to expect of her training programs. When human interaction and connection is at a premium now that everything is virtual, she created an environment of collaboration and inclusivity for both the Peer Mentors and the various staff members involved in the training. She did this while being actively involved in the summer orientations where our advising office welcomed over 1,450 students via virtual dog days, and a summer of consistent student interactions via zoom and email. She went above and beyond in assuring that our incoming freshmen will have extremely well prepared Peer Mentors, regardless of the virtual environment. Kudos, Stephanie! It’s a pleasure to work alongside you!
Eddie Zenteno, Plant Operations
on Monday, 08/17/2020, at approximately 11:35, a collision involving two vehicles occurred on Barstow Ave at Maple Ave. There was a significant amount of vehicle debris in the roadway resulting in Campus Police having to direct traffic at this intersection pending tow truck arrivals. To expedite the intersection reopening, Plant Ops was contacted. Eddie used an air blower to remove and reduce the vehicle debris quickly which resulted in the normal flow of traffic. His efforts were greatly appreciated and showed that he went above and beyond during this incident.

Juan Torres, Technology Services
Juan works above and beyond! For two years now, Juan provides one of the best customer services for me when it comes to helping the Admissions and Recruitment Office with our phone lines. Considering that IT is quite busy at this time, Juan is patient and responds to our ticket requests either the same day or the next day. We appreciate all of his help! Thank you, Juan!
Matt Studwell, Athletics
After observing the CSS staff conduct daily health screenings, Matt proactively reached out to Traffic Operations and offered access to one of their ice machine/water filling stations. These resources provide the CSS team with much appreciated logistical support relative to their unique and ongoing responsibilities. The CSS team is extremely grateful and offer our sincere gratitude to Matt and the rest of our partners in the Athletics Department.
