The College of Health and Human Services is proud to welcome two new faculty to the chair role. New Department Chairs:
Dr. Jenelle Gilbert, professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Dr. Irán Barrera, professor in the Department of Social Work Education.
Dr. Brooke Findley, assistant professor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies, is the new director of the California Speech-Language Hearing Association’s fifth district, which represents counties from Merced, Bakersfield and the Central Coast.
Dr. Mark Baldis, lecturer in the Department of Kinesiology, was selected to serve a three-year term on the American College of Sports Medicine, Committee for Certification and Registry Board.

Dr. Helda Pinzon-Perez, professor in the Department of Public Health, Dr. Dawn Lewis, professor in the Department of Kinesiology, and Dr. Scott Sailor, special assistant to the CHHS dean, completed training and obtained a certificate from the Executive Leadership Academy offered by University of California, Berkeley this past summer.
Marie Gilbert, director of the Central California Center for Excellence in Nursing, was recognized as the 2021 Career Technical Education Champion for Duncan Polytechnic High School’s MASH Aacademy.
Hannah Ko, assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, will be the principal investigator from Fresno State for the National Institutes of Health, Small Business Innovation Research Phase II grant for 2021-23.
