Effective June 28, 2021, California prohibited state-funded and state-sponsored travel to Arkansas, Florida, Montana, North Dakota and West Virginia as a result of new legislation recently enacted in each state deemed as discriminatory, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced.
As a reminder, funds appropriated by the legislature (i.e. tuition, fees, all campus funds) may not be used to pay for travel to the current list of banned states. However, campuses may choose to support travel based on their review of individual circumstances (i.e. sport team travel, faculty who hold leadership positions in national organizations, etc.) with non-state funding from campus auxiliary organizations or private funds.
