Name: Audrey Munoz
Title: Administrative support coordinator II and Clothing Closet coordinator
Department: Career Development Center
Academic Degree(s): Forensic Behavioral Sciences, Fresno State
How long have you worked at Fresno State and which offices have you worked in?
In April, I will have worked here for four years. Prior to my current position, I worked in the social work, public health, and physical therapy departments as an administrative support assistant.
Are you a Valley native? If not, what brought you to the area? And Fresno State.
Yes, I am a Valley native. I was born in Fresno and raised in Madera. My mom also works for Fresno State and she encouraged me to apply and it has been a great experience to be an employee and student on campus.
Are you a Bulldog family with generations of Bulldog graduates or current students?
Yes! My youngest sister graduated from Fresno State in May 2019 with a degree in business and I graduated in May 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in forensic behavioral sciences.
Do you have a campus mentor or someone who has helped you in your career?
I would absolutely have to say that it is my mom, Belinda Munoz. My mom has worked on campus for almost 10 years and has served in many positions here. My mom motivated me to apply for a job here on campus in the first place and in that time she assisted me with my resume and practiced with me before any interview that I have ever had. So if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t even be here. She has encouraged me to keep doing more and moving up any time a new opportunity arises because she believes in me all the time! She is the chair of the Staff Assembly, which she encouraged me to join, and they have been some of my greatest moments on campus.
Tell us about your department and what people may not know about it.
I work in the Career Development Center where we prepare students for life after college whether it be going into the workforce or going into a masters program. In this office we assist students with their cover letters, resumes, statement of purpose and give mock interviews. We host our Career Fairs that allow for students to meet with future employers or internship opportunities. Our office also has the Money Management Center where we assist students in the financial area and learn to create healthy financial habits. Lastly, our office houses the Clothing Closet where we allow students to come and pick out a professional outfit that will prepare them for a job interview or even just a presentation.
What is your most notable accomplishment in your field, and why was it important?
I think the most notable accomplishment in my field has been to earn the Spirit of Service award for the Clothing Closet. It is something that I am so proud of and probably one of my biggest accomplishments thus far.
What are you most passionate about in your field and why?
I am most passionate about being able to serve the students and seeing the smiles on so many students' faces when we tell them that clothes are free. The expense of college is already so overwhelming and adding on the expense of buying a professional set of clothing to attend a the Career Fair, a job interview or even for a presentation can really be so discouraging and make them not want to go. I’m happy that my job can ease this stress and provide them support.
What is a memorable moment you had at your job?
A memorable moment at my job was when I was able to start a collaboration with Paul Mitchell The School and the Clothing Closet. I loved seeing the smiles on students' faces when I told them that they are able to get as much clothing at our spring/fall casual clothing giveaway as they would like. The clothing was free along with getting a free haircut by Paul Mitchell The School students.
What is your favorite quote or saying?
I have two. "Results happen over time, not overnight — work hard, stay consistent and be patient" and "Never let anyone dull your sparkle."
What do you like to do for fun in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and friends traveling or even just hanging out at home and barbecuing. My nieces and nephews are my world so any time I get to spend with them, I definitely love to make the most of that.

What is something interesting about you that most people don’t know?
Growing up I was a dancer. I started at the age of six and did it until I was a freshman in college. I am now the varsity dance coach for a brand new high school team at Matilda Torres in Madera. This last year was the first year they have ever had a dance program so I have been able to get this program started from the ground up. This is something I am truly passionate about and it is something that I truly enjoy teaching. In one year, my squad competed in six competitions winning first place at four of them and second place at the Central Interscholastic Federation Section conference, winning a very large plaque! Lastly, we qualified for a competition at the USA Nationals competition in Disneyland, which was one of the best experiences ever!

Is there something else you would like to share that was not asked?
I graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in forensic behavioral sciences, but still have a semester to complete this fall. I hope to one day pursue a career in law enforcement where I will be working on evidence such as DNA, photographing, etc. But first, I will be pursuing a masters degree in business.
