Carrie Coll supervises sports medicine, nutrition and strength and conditioning for the Department of Athletics along with several of the Bulldog teams.
But one of the most fulfilling parts of her job as senior associate athletic director and senior woman administrator is helping Fresno State student-athletes succeed.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to see our student-athletes have success on their field of play, but the most rewarding part of my job is helping them develop and prepare for their lives and careers after their time as a Fresno State student-athlete,” Coll said. “I know how much I benefitted from guidance and support from others, and I truly enjoy being a resource for our Bulldog student-athletes.”
Coll came to Fresno State a little more than three years ago from Colorado Springs, where she was an associate commissioner at the Mountain West Conference for 14 years. At the conference office, she directed the championships and led the governance process with coaches groups and administrators.
Before her time with the Mountain West, Coll was the senior director of events and elite athlete relations for the U.S. Figure Skating Association. During her time with U.S. Figure Skating, she was the chief of sport services for figure skating events at the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Coll earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology at the University of Colorado, where she got her start in collegiate athletics serving as a student athletic trainer for the Buffaloes. She earned her master's in sport management at the University of Kentucky while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer.
At Fresno State, Coll serves on committees that manage the governance of the Mountain West with the mission of developing policies and plans for the conference and the sports that it sponsors. In addition, she works closely with campus Title IX staff on educational requirements and gender equity topics.
She's also completing a four-year term on the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Committee. This past year, she served as chair. The committee selects the 64 teams for the NCAA tournament, brackets them and administers the championship.
Coll is also honored to serve on the President’s Commission on Human Relations and Equity at Fresno State and values the relationships she’s developed with the group.
In her down time, Coll enjoys cooking and practicing Pilates.
"I love to travel and read, but since I rarely do either of them for things other than work, I’m not sure that counts as a hobby," she joked.
Married to husband Dermot, a regional sales manager at Quinn Company, she has a 9-year-old daughter named Reagan. Coll loves spending time outdoors with her family and attending Bulldog events with them.
