Cynthia Cavazos (Communicative Sciences and Deaf Studies) and Kathleen Rindahl (School of Nursing) led a service-learning trip to Fiji with 20 Fresno State students, including 14 nursing students and others majoring in social work, dietetics, chemistry and biology. The trip focused on global health and allowed students to work in the local hospitals and clinics — and more importantly, taught them more about the act of service-learning. The project was funded by the Division of Continuing and Global Education, the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning, and the Friends for Civic Engagement.
