Effective April 15. California will prohibit state-funded and state-sponsored travel to South Carolina. This comes as a result of South Carolina's enactment of H-4950, which has a provision deemed discriminatory, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced.
As a reminder, funds appropriated by the legislature (i.e. tuition, fees, all campus funds) may not be used to pay for travel to the current list of banned states. However, campuses may choose to support travel based on their review of individual circumstances (i.e. sport team travel, faculty who hold leadership positions in national organizations, etc.) with non-state funding from campus auxiliary organizations or private funds.
