Fresno State’s Emergency Operations Center is activated during a campus emergency — typically operating for 12 hours to a week, depending on the situation.
During this unprecedented time, the EOC was activated on March 12, 2020, and has continued meeting through the 2020-21 academic year. Members represent different areas of our campus community and they work together to provide timely and important operational information to the President and his Cabinet to help support the safety and well-being of our University.
In the early days of the pandemic, the EOC met twice a day for a couple weeks, then started meeting once a day for a month. Now, it meets once a week to continue sharing issues, questions, and opportunities where we can help.
The group has held 85 meetings since it was activated and produced 74 reports. When it first met, there was only one COVID case reported in Fresno County. Now, there are more than 97,000 cases in the county.
“It’s been a time commitment for all of us,” said Amy Luna, manager for Emergency Operations who plans and organizes the meetings. “It’s been really nice to work closely with other colleagues who can provide specific expertise and resources so we can have our pulse on every aspect of our campus’ operations and to help inform Cabinet when questions or issues would arise.”
