Join the Hmong Voices Series hosted by the Hmong Studies Program on Tuesday, April 5 with Master Ser Lee who will speak about "The transmission of Hmong Customs and Traditions."
Should we transmit our customs and traditions to our children? If yes, what parts are essential to transmit? And what parts should we adapt, modify or even abandon in order to fit our modern lifestyle, values and standards? There is a very important question regarding the patriarchal system that is inherent to the Hmong customs and traditions. What should we do with that so that women alongside men live in a gender equal society? Harmony and peaceful transition or conflict and disruptive transition?
This presentation will be held in Hmong and English. It's free and open to all.
Date: Tuesday, April 5
Time: 5 - 7 p.m.
