Name: Alexis Duncil
Title: Public relations and communications coordinator
Department: Water, Energy and Technology (WET) Center
Academic Degrees: Bachelors of Science in agricultural communications, emphasis in public relations
How long you have worked at Fresno State: As a former student, I worked for University Communications for the majority of the five years I was enrolled for my undergraduate degree. After graduation in 2019, I was hired full time in February 2020. I just celebrated my two-year anniversary at the WET Center.
What are you most passionate about in your field and why? I am most passionate about sharing the incredible stories of our ventures who participate in our programming or are otherwise involved in some capacity at the WET Center. It's incredible to see their innovative and sustainable solutions to worldwide issues surrounding water, energy, ag-tech and beyond. Their efforts to create a better world with more reliable solutions certainly make me excited to participate in such conversations. My joy is sharing how the WET Center and our ventures are working to cultivate and commercialize solutions for the real world, right here in the Central Valley!
What is a memorable moment you had at your job? One of the memorable moments at my job was actually just a few short weeks ago. I had the honor to moderate an insightful and empowering fireside chat with author, filmmaker and journalist, Amy Wu, who wrote "From Farms to Incubators," a documentary and book highlighting "stories and practical case studies of how women entrepreneurs from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds are leading the ag-tech revolution."
What do you like to do for fun in your spare time? In my spare time, I like to go hiking in Yosemite or do yoga at home. I enjoy photography and, pre-pandemic, I also enjoyed attending concerts of all genres.
