The Asian Faculty and Staff Association, also known as AFSA, provides opportunities for leadership and professional development, and supports the Fresno State Asian Pacific Islander Desi American faculty, staff and students.
Nominations are now open for the 2024-25 board of directors who serve for a one-year term, except for the treasurer who serves for two years. As this year's vice president/president-elect, Dr. Jenny Banh will serve as next year's president. All other positions are open.
The board of directors positions include:
- Vice President/President-Elect
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Activities Program Chair
- Historian Reporter
- Student Liaison Chair
- Public Relations Chair
- Fundraising/Recruiting Chair
- Technology Chair
Nominations are due by Sunday, May 5. All nominees should be a general AFSA member. Become a member or renew your membership by filling out the membership application and paying the membership fee of $20 to paypal.me/afsafresno. Dues-paying members are eligible to cast a vote for the board of directors. Elections will be held Monday, May 6 to Friday, May 10. The results will be announced on Monday, May 13.

Apply for LEAP sponsorship
AFSA will support the program cost for one faculty or staff member to attend the Leadership Development Program for Higher Education, or LEAP, Advance conference from July 10 to 13 in Pomona.
Interested applicants are asked to fill out this application by Tuesday, May 7. The recipient will be notified the week after. To receive support for this conference, the recipient will agree to serve on the AFSA board in the following academic year after receiving the award.
AFSA will sponsor the cost of the conference only, not travel or lodging. The recipient is encouraged to seek sponsorships from other departments to cover additional expenses.
