Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies faculty Dr. Gloria Negrete-Lopez will host a presentation as part of the College of Social Sciences Teach-in series 1 to 2:30 p.m Thursday, May 1, at Library Room 3212.
The free event is open to the public and will explore the radical framework of abolition feminism and its role in challenging carceral systems through visual and creative forms of resistance.
Artists, activists, and everyday people have used zines, public art, and digital media, not only as a political stance, but as a generative force to imagine and demand a world beyond prisons and policing.
This talk also highlights ways in which abolition feminism builds collective power, reclaims narrative, and envisions a different world by centering on creativity as a tool of liberation.
The event is part of a weekly series through May featuring faculty from the College of Social Sciences.
