Dr. Melinda Roberts has been named Fresno State’s new provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, effective July 15. Roberts currently serves as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana State University and professor in the School of Criminology and Security Studies.
Dr. Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, announced Robert's appointment on April 21. The provost is the university’s chief academic officer and serves as its leader when the president is away from campus.
"She brings a strong record of academic leadership, including launching new degree programs aligned with workforce needs, strengthening advising and student success efforts, and supporting faculty development across disciplines," Jiménez-Sandoval said. "Throughout the search process, what stood out was not only her experience, but her approach—grounded in collaboration, listening and a deep respect for the role faculty and staff play in shaping a university."
