We would like to invite you to join us for a Lunch and Learn event to provide further discussion and education regarding Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in honor of The National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), Girls and Two-Spirits.
While violence against women plagues many communities across the country and around the world, Indigenous women are 10 times more likely to be murdered than any other demographic. These are the alarming statistics that highlight the epidemic of MMIW. Featuring guest educator Lori Jump, member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, director of StrongHearts Native Helpline, a 24/7 safe, confidential and anonymous domestic, dating and sexual violence helpline for American Indians and Alaska Natives, offering culturally-appropriate support and advocacy. Jump has over 20 years of victim-survivor advocacy. It is a great honor to have her speak to the community at large. All are welcome.
