The Kremen School recently honored local special education teachers with the Carolyn Dobbs Special Education Teacher of the Year Award. The award recognizes the importance of the work of special education professionals.
Named after Mary Carolyn Dobbs (1911- 2011), the annual Dobbs Award was created in 2005 by the Kremen School.
Born in 1911 – the same year Fresno State was founded – Dobbs received in 2004 the honorary doctorate degree in humane letters in recognition for her contributions to special education through her tireless advocacy for children with special needs.
Dobbs, a Fresno State alumna, was a teacher and internationally renowned pioneer in special education. Her selfless work brought significant changes at the state and national levels in the classroom and in everyday life for students.
