With deep roots in the San Joaquin Valley, Fresno State has grown to care for the world by empowering the people — the soul of our campus — to build a place many are proud to call home.

At last week’s CSU Board of Trustees meeting in Long Beach, Fresno State was featured through our latest video, which highlights members of the Bulldog family who embody Fresno State’s commitment to education, research, workforce development, economic impact and community engagement

• Sydney Rivera, an electrical engineering major, is working with her peers to design a prosthetic arm, which the group aims to eventually control using specified brain waves. Their research cuts across disciplines to find creative solutions that value diverse perspectives.
• Emmelin Herrera, a two-time alumna from the Kremen School of Education and Human Development, currently serves as a sixth grade S.T.E.A.M educator in Fresno Unified School District. Her teaching philosophy integrates real-world projects into her classroom as a way to develop her students’ creativity and critical thinking skills.

Curious and driven students like Sydney go on to become innovative and civic-minded leaders like Emmelin, compounding Fresno State’s impact in the region and beyond. Their heart for community is evident and resembles the same pride that unites us all.
