Have you ever wandered through the Fresno State Library looking for room 3126 only to find yourself in 3207, completely disoriented and confused when the student at the counter tells you that you are on the wrong side of the library?
If so, you are not alone! It is time you learned about one of our “hidden library secrets.” There is a code in those numbers to help you find your way to your meeting rooms.
The first number in the room number tells you the floor the room is on. So if the room number is 2108, that means it's on the second floor. Simple enough, right?
But here's where it gets interesting - the second number tells you which wing of the library the room is in. The north or "new" wing gets the number 1, while the south or "old" wing gets the number 2. So that 2108 room? That's on the second floor of the north wing. And 3207? That's on the third floor of the south wing. Pretty neat, huh?
Now for the twist - only the first and second floors connect the north and south wings. So if you need to cross over from one wing to another, you need to get to the first or second floors to do it!
This little code helps us navigate this big, beautiful library of ours. Next time you're trying to find a meeting room, just remember the secret code:
- The first number is the floor
- The second number is the wing (1=North/New, 2=South/Old)
- Use the first and second floors to cross from one side to the other
Crack that code, and you'll be finding your way around like a pro. Who knows, maybe you'll even discover a hidden passageway or two along the way. After all, every good library has to have a few secrets, don't you think? Happy exploring, library lovers!
